This
is an instrument for determining the vaccum in an open top can for
processed food. It can also record pressure developed
in the can due to spoilage or hydrogen formation.
|
|
The
rubber gasket of the testing gauge is placed against the flat centre
of the double-seamed end. The can is then pierced by
pressing down the instrument. Care should be taken to ensure that
the gauge is not titled during the piercing operation
as this may given an incorrect reading by permitting air into the
can.
|
|
A
pressure of upto 30 psi and a vaccum corresponding to 30" column
of mercury, can be read off the gauge.
